The Mt. Rainier Lutheran High School boy's cross country team won the team District title in the Westside Classic, as they took home an individual title by Andrew W., and had all seven of their runners finish in top 19! In the girl's competition, although they did not have enough athletes to compete for the team championship, MRLH took home the individual title by Alexis F. and had the top two finishers, with all four girls competing finishing in the top 13 in the meet! The Hawk volleyball team defeated Eastside Prep, 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-20), on "Senior Night" tonight to end the regular season at 6-8. Next up is the Tri-District tournament, which starts next week. Game times have not been set yet. Once the game date, location and time have been announced, it will be posted on the blog. Four seniors were honored prior to the match for all of their hard work and dedication to the MRLH volleyball program, Kalen S., Kassi B., Aisling W. and "Coach" Garrett. They will all be missed! The Mt. Rainier Lutheran High School volleyball team went on the road to Concrete to take on the Lions today and played yet another five set marathon. The Hawks fell behind 2-0, rallied to win the next two, but fell in the decisive fifth set to lose the match, 3-2 (26-28, 18-25, 25-22, 25-12, 12-15). With the loss, the MRLH volleyball team falls to 5-8 for the season. They have one regular season match left before Tri-Districts. Their final match is at home against Eastside Prep this coming Monday, October 26th, and it is "Senior Night". Come out to Meyer Gymnasium to say thank you to the seniors! The soccer Hawks went on the road to take on Rainier Christian today and played solid defense before ultimately losing the match, 3-1. Coach Kirchenberg and the team have one more match left this season, so come out and support the team as they take on Crosspoint Academy at home on this coming Tuesday, October 27th, at 4pm at Concordia. In today's Sea-Tac League Championships at Trophy Lake golf course in Port Orchard, the Mt. Rainier Lutheran High School Hawks repeated as League Champions in the boy's varsity competion! The other schools competing, Bear Creek, Chief Leschi, Crosspoint Academy, Life Christian, Northwest Yeshiva, Rainier Christian, Seattle Lutheran and Tacoma Baptist, were no match for the Hawks individually or for their depth. Individually, in the boy's 5,000 meter varsity , the Hawks took 1st, 3rd, 6th, 11th, 13th, 16th and 20th. On the girl's side, while not competing in the team competition due to not having enough competitors, the girl's who did compete showed their dominance also in taking 1st, 2nd, 8th and 13th. MRLH also proved they are stocked for the future as they took 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th in the 5.000 meter junior varsity competition. Congratulations to all of the coaches and athletes! The MRLH volleyball team continues to improve against tough competition, playing hard the entire match tonight against Auburn Adventist Academy before eventually losing, 3-1 (27-25, 15-25, 12-25, 24-26). Rainier Lutheran soccer team traveled to Seattle to take on the Bush School and played much better defense throughout the contest but couldn't come up with a goal on the offensive end and ultimately fell to Bush, 3-0. The Hawks have two consecutive home matches coming up at the beginning of next week at Concordia Field, on Monday, October 19th, against Puget Sound Adventist Academy, and on Tuesday, October 20th, against Bear Creek. The state's 2nd ranked 2B/1B boy's cross country team (from the 10/14/09 Coaches Association Poll), your Mt. Rainier Lutheran Hawks, went head-to-head with the state's #1 ranked 1A school, Charles Wright Academy, in a meet held today at Ft. Steilacoom Park in Lakewood, Washington. As anticipated, the boy's meet was extremely close, with Charles Wright just edging MRLH for the team title (other teams competing included Fife, Orting, Vashon Island, Washington, Life Christian Academy and Seattle Lutheran). On the boy's side, in the varsity 5,000 meter race, Hawk runners finished 3rd, 6th, 14th, 17th, 20th, 23rd and 29th. In the girl's 5,000 meter race, the Hawks took 3rd, 5th, 15th, 26th and 34th. In one of the best matches ever played by a Mt. Rainier Lutheran High School volleyball team, the Hawks went toe-to-toe with Northwest Yeshiva in their gym and gave it their all before finally losing a five set thriller, 3-2 (25-21, 25-21, 26-28, 23-25. 6-15). Every point of every set seemed to be an extended rally as neither team would give up or give in during the grueling match. The players on both teams played well and played hard, and gave all the fans in attendance an exciting exhibition of athletic competition. The MRLH volleyball team returned to Meyer Gymnasium to take on Puget Sound Adventist Academy tonight and won the first set before losing the next three to fall, 3-1 (25-19, 15-25, 19-25, 12-25). With the defeat, the Hawks fell back to .500 for the season, dropping to 5-5. Another meet, and more domination by the Mt. Rainier Lutheran High School cross country teams! The Hawks again dominated the field in the Sea-Tac League Meet in Bremerton today. Teams competing in the meet in addition to Mt. Rainier Lutheran High School included; Chief Leschi, Crosspoint Academy, Northwest Yeshiva, Rainier Christian, Seattle Lutheran and Tacoma Baptist. In the boy's varsity 3 mile race, MRLH runners finished 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 15th, 19th, 30th, 48th, 49th and 55th. In the girl's varsity 3 mile race, with a smaller than normal squad, Hawk runners finished 1st, 4th and 7th. Congratulations to Coach Syverson and all the athletes on their accomplishments thus far this season! Next up for the Hawks is a meet at Ft. Steilacoom Park on Thursday, October 15th, against the state's top ranked 1A cross country team, Charles Wright Academy, along with Fife High School, Orting High School, Washington High School, Life Christian Academy, Seattle Lutheran High School and Vashon High School. It was a busy Thursday night in sports for Mt. Rainier Lutheran High teams, so let's get started. On the volleyball front, the Hawks went on the road to Eastside Prep in Bellevue and had little trouble dispatching the home team in a 3-0 route. MRLH won three straight sets by the scores of 25-7, 25-9 and 25-8. With the victory, the Lady Hawks improve to 5-4 on the season. Both the boy's and girl's varsity races covered 2.8 miles at Earlands Point Park in Bremerton. On the boy's side, Mt. Rainier Lutheran HIgh runners finished 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, 12th, 13th and 14th in the field, while the girl's finished 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th in their race.
